The British Interplanetary Society

The British Interplanetary Society (BIS) is Britain’s leading think tank on space development. Founded in 1933, it is the world’s longest established organization devoted solely to supporting and promoting the exploration of space and astronautics. The BIS is financially independent, has charitable status, and obtains its main income from a worldwide membership.

The British Interplanetary Society is devoted to initiating, promoting and disseminating new concepts and technical information about space flight and astronautics through meetings, symposia, publications, visits and exhibitions.

The British Interplanetary Society’s headquarters are located in Central London, within 5 minutes walk from local Underground, Rail and Bus Stations – enabling easy access for visitors to the Society.

Institute for Interstellar Studies

The mission of the Institute for Interstellar Studies is to conduct activities or research relating to the challenges of achieving robotic and human interstellar flight. We will address the scientific, technological, political and social and cultural issues. We will seed high-risk high-gain initiatives, and foster the breakthroughs where they are required. We will work with anyone co-operatively from the global community who desires to invest their time, energy and resources towards catalyzing an interstellar civilization.

Our goal is to create the conditions on Earth and in space so that starflight becomes possible by the end of the twenty first century or sooner by helping to create an interplanetary and then an interstellar explorer species. We will seek out evidence of life beyond the Earth, wherever it is to be found. We will achieve this by harnessing knowledge, new technologies, imagination and intellectual value to create innovative design and development concepts, defined and targeted public outreach events as well as cutting edge entrepreneurial and educational programs.

Tau Zero Foundation

Although we have another 500-million years before Earth’s certain demise [Dorminey 2010], Tau Zero’s goal is to develop as much promise for the future as soon as we can. Why wait until it might be too late? This is about hedging our bets for all the risks – and benefits – along the way. On something as important as the survival of our species, can we really afford to procrastinate?

The changes occurring in space endeavors are matching historic patterns for when a premier organization, in this case NASA, evolves beyond its pioneering foundations. The emergence of the new commercial ventures and space programs in other countries fit such patterns. History has also shown that now is the time to seek more revolutionary approaches. This is why Tau Zero is attempting interstellar flight – to drive progress toward revolutionary progress.

This is about creating a positive future vision – a future worth striving for.

GLOBAL STARSHIP ALLIANCE (GSA)

Founded in 2011, the Global Starship Alliance (GSA) is a non-profit organization which aims to fund and nurture private space ventures with long-term potential to develop the technologies necessary for interstellar travel. Our primary goal is to accomplish this through a global venture fund ―with short and long range goals― that employs an entrepreneurial approach in addressing the challenges of interstellar flight. The Open Source Starship Alliance (OSSA), an arm of GSA aims to increase global involvement through open information sharing and open source development of space technologies to build bridges and span across multiple organizations to develop technology for interstellar flight. The team is comprised of world-class scientists, and space industry members and organizations.

Star Voyager

Star Voyager is a unique space initiative that brings together a growing network of entrepreneurs, engineers, astronomers, astrobiologists, economists, astrophysicists, architects, computer scientists, psychologists, futurists, artists, and many others, all determined to take a leap into space.

Star Voyager has a twofold mission. The first is to help develop a collaborative plan for opening up the solar system to exploration, development and eventual colonization, addressing global, human, environmental, and financial challenges. The second is to initiate, promote, and support the catalytic drive to technological innovation that will lead us to the endless frontier, to interstellar space, shaping a peaceful, creative, and prosperous 21st century.

Star Voyager is a sponsored initiative of the Leeward Space Foundation (www.leewardspacefoundation.org) and the International Space Development HUB (www.isdhub.com). You can write to us at starvoyager@isdhub.com.

Earth 2 Hub

Earth 2 Hub™ brings together leading-edge international creatives, scientists, technologists and futurists to explore how new science, new technology and new thinking could positively impact on the future. Comprising Earth 2 Hub™ Ltd – visioning the future, and Earth 2 Design™ Ltd – designing the future, Earth 2.0® group was born of an idea conceived in the Atlantic Forest in Brazil in 2009 and was incorporated in London, United Kingdom in 2011.
